Presentation Perfect. Move around a stage and the OBSBOT Tail 2 is right there with you, thanks to smooth and responsive AI-powered automatic tracking of not only people but also over 30 types of animals and 200 types of objects! The enhanced human-tracking algorithm is equipped with intelligent Auto Zoom to maintain optimal subject proportions without manual adjustments as the subject moves. The “Only Me” feature will keep tracking your subject of choice, regardless of who (or what) else enters the scene.
Tackle Complex Venues. The OBSBOT Tail 2 camera offers exceptional low light sensitivity, with two native ISO ranges that can handle noon-hour sports as well as late-night concerts. Preserve detail in both the sky and foreground by toggling into HDR mode, even at maximum zoom. Speaking of zoom, the 5x optical zoom and 12x hybrid zoom are incredibly smooth and work really well with the rapid phase-detection autofocus. This all works in tandem with a next-generation stabilization system. What results is a camera that can handle even the most complex environments and will maintain sharp focus on your intended subject during dynamic movement and in challenging lighting conditions.
Freedom of Movement with FreeD. Elevate your AR and VR projects with the Tail 2’s FreeD compatibility, which adds the tracking information needed for smooth panning, tilting, zooming, and rotating when focused on a designated subject. This is essential for virtual live video so that you can easily integrate animations to your stream, including visual effects that interact with the live action on stage. Explore this further with FreeD integration software from UNreal Engine and Disguise.
Output Interface and Power Options. Output HDMI and IP video in resolutions up to 4K60p or 1080p120 ensuring pro-grade reliability in any production setting (3G-SDI also available up to 1080p60). There is also the option of recording in-camera straight to a microSD card, which is great for quick content backups. The 5000mAh battery provides up to five hours of continuous shooting while also giving you the option of using Power Over Ethernet. PoE offers network connectivity plus power delivery using just one cable. Dual USB-C ports are available for connecting to external power sources as well as laptops for fast data transfer. An RS-232 I/O enables professional control integration of movement and multi-camera setups with support for three protocols: VISCA, Pelco-D, and Pelco-P. For audio, the Tail 2 has two 3.5mm ports for Mic In and Line In. Please note that there is no internal microphone on this camera.
Tail Air vs Tail 2. When compared to prior models, such as the OBSBOT Tail Air, the Tail 2 demonstrates a massive upgrade to object tracking as well as hand gesture recognition. Coverage is also majorly improved thanks to a big lens upgrade from a 23mm fixed lens to a 22-110mm zoom (4.6-23mm equivalent in 35mm terms). Supported protocols and outputs have expanded and the maximum storage compatibility on microSD cards (not included) has increased from 512GM to 1TB. All of these improvements come at the expense of size. The Tail Air 2 is quite a bit heavier and larger than the Tail Air, though the Tail 2 is still quite portable at only 2.4 pounds and 6.1" tall.
