What’s Changed? Rolling off the back of the previous GR IIIx, this Ricoh GR IV comes equipped with several internal and external improvements. Its impressive 25.7MP BSI CMOS sensor and fixed 28mm-equivalent lens work in tandem with one another to produce exceptional quality photo and video, while improved autofocus and Shake Reduction help the camera keep up with fast, handheld shooting. Additionally, this camera is supported with increased built-in memory, an updated battery, and minor tweaks to focusing and shooting modes.

Upgraded Sensor and Processor. The GR IV’s sensor and sharp GR ENGINE 7 processor deliver optimal performance, even in low-light environments. Boasting a rapid 0.6-sec startup time and ISO up to 204800, your focusing needs are supported. Following suit with its predecessor, this camera also captures versatile 14-bit DNG and JPEG recording.

5-Axis Stabilization System. Compensating for up to 6 stops of camera shake, the GR IV’s improves on the 3-axis reduction of the GR IIIx with a more handheld-friendly 5-axis system.

Fixed Lens and Optical Design. Sporting an integrated wide-angle 28mm f/2.8-equivalent lens, the GR IV supports simple, everyday capture while giving you a leg up in low-light scenarios. Its upgraded optical design features a 7 element/5 group layout engineered with aspherical, HR, and low-dispersion glass elements, delivering clarity while maintaining a lightweight physical design. In Macro Mode, the GR IV boasts close focusing distances of 2.4-inches to 4.7-inches, while its integrated ND filter reduces exposure by 2-stops to maximize aperture settings or minimizing shutter speeds for cool effects. Additionally, built-in crop modes takes this camera a step further by simulating 35mm and 50mm field of views, eliminating the need for extra lenses.

Physical Design & Power. Keeping the light-yet-durable magnesium alloy blend of its predecessor, this camera features a slimmer design for a more secure handheld grip. With an uptick in storage capacity, the GR IV supports up to 53GB of internal memory, along with a microSD card slot. Along with this updated cameras comes an updated battery, the DB-120. This larger-capacity battery captures up to 250 shots per charge compared to the 200 shots of the GR IIIx, while the integrated USB-C port allows for in-camera battery charging and data transfer.

Controls and Display. The updated control layout on the GR IV gives you easier access to immediate adjustments and provides a more intuitive, user-friendly experience. At the center of your controls, the 3-inch LCD touchscreen promotes increased visibility outdoors thanks to its air gapless design, and is even further supported when the Outdoor Monitor Setting function is engaged!

GR World App. Outside of your standard Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support, Ricoh’s GR World App further improves user experience by providing you with a home base for file transfer, remote shutter release, and location data transfer.
