While we no longer rent this product, we do carry the Sony Alpha a6300 and a6500. Additionally, you may find alternatives on the left-hand side of this page (see Recommended section).
The Sony Alpha a6000 is an advanced compact mirrorless camera and update to the popular Sony NEX-6. Key features include:
24.3MP APS-C Sensor. The large 24.3MP APS-C image sensor offers an increase in resolution over the NEX-6’s 16MP sensor. It gives you the same normal ISO range of 100-25,600, but utilizes the latest BIONZ X image processor.
E-Mount. Compatible with a wide variety of E-mount lenses, as well as numerous other mounts via adapter.
High-Resolution Electronic Viewfinder and LCD. Gives you two composition and image-review methods. The Tru-Finder 0.39-inch 1,440k-dot OLED EVF provides eye-level viewing like a traditional DSLR, while the tilting 3.0" 921k-dot Xtra Fine LCD is great for waist-level and tripod shooting.
Fast Hybrid Autofocus. The a6000 features a tandem 179-point phase-detection/25-point contrast-detection autofocus system that covers about 90% of the sensor. This enables continuous autofocus and tracking performance while also increasing speed and accuracy. It’s a significant improvement over its predecessor’s autofocus system. The a6000 also offers 11 fps in continuous high mode with autofocus tracking enabled for stills and video.
Full HD Video Recording. The AVCHD codec supports Full 1080p HD video at both 60 and 24 fps, and reduced-resolution MP4 recording is possible. New features include clean HDMI output for recording uncompressed video via an optional external recorder, and a Zebra function (70 to 100+ levels) for detecting exposure clipping while recording.
Built-In Wi-Fi and NFC Connectivity. Like other recent E-mount cameras, the a6000 offers built-in Wi-Fi for image capture and review using Sony’s line of PlayMemories smart-device apps.
Customizable Controls. There are eight buttons that you can customize based on your shooting preferences. The old NEX menu system has been replaced with the far easier-to-navigate Alpha menu system. It uses the NP-FW50 rechargeable battery, which is rated for about 420 shots per charge. Images are recorded to SDHC/XC memory cards.
