No. You must use the hand controller to move the telescope. There are no clutches to allow manual movement. It’s a good idea to keep 8 AA batteries on-hand for backup.
To do that you must have an EclipSmart solar filter for 8-inch SCT. Never project an image of the sun through the telescope without a solar filter. This can damage the telescope and/or any accessories attached to it.
No, you must use either the included AC adapter or eight AA batteries (not included) to power this telescope.
We’ve found that using AA batteries can cause stuttering in the motor’s operation, so we recommend using the AC adapter.
