The Fuji X half (Black) is a compact and lightweight point-and-shoot camera designed to mimic the half-frame capabilities of vintage film cameras. Key features include:
18MP 1-inch vertical 3:4 CMOS sensor
13 film modes and 26 filter options
Integrated FUJINON 10.8mm f/2.8 lens
Film camera mode & 2-in-1 mode
Film Made Digital. Although most of the rest of the world has moved far past the age of 35mm rolls of film, the Fuji X half (Black) is the product of that urge to digitally capture stunning, film-effect photos and videos without the time-consuming realities of shooting standard analog film. Through its stunning vertically-oriented 1" CMOS sensor, the X half captures 18MP 3:4 stills and videos, which is assisted by a +/-3 EV exposure compensation dial and manual exposure control settings.
An Ode To Analog. While this camera is completely digital, it offers several film modes to capture the grainy, light-leaked photos you’re looking for. Engaging Film Camera Mode prompts the X half to be configured to 36, 54, or 72 “shots” of film, which can only be viewed after the “roll” has completed, just as a camera would’ve in 1995! A selection of 13 film simulations can be accessed in Film Camera Mode, each varying slightly with tones, grains, light-leaks, and more. You’ll be able to swipe quickly through the different styles using the touchscreen bar next to the LCD display.
Digital Developing. Once your roll is completed, you can seamlessly run your files through the FUJIFILM X app (for Apple and Android), digitally “develop” them, and the app will produce a film sheet with all of your collected shots and a cool film frame border!
Half Frame Mode. Utilizing the X half’s 2-in-1 shooting function enables you to snap two frames and stitch them in a collage-style, half-frame design. In a nod to old school cameras, once the first photo is taken, you’ll push out the Frame Advance Lever, and then take the second photo! Borders, colors, and more can be adjusted in the camera settings.
Integrated Fixed Lens. To capture all of these everyday moments, this camera features a fixed, wide-angle FUJINON Aspherical 10.8mm f/2.8 lens with a 32mm equivalent focal length. Surrounding the lens is a manual aperture ring accompanied by a small tab that helps make precise aperture adjustments with ease, and a manual front focusing ring.
Video Capabilities. It’s very clear how much of an homage the X half is to your grandma’s 80’s film camera that made appearances at birthdays and holidays, not only through design, but through appeal. While photos have been at the forefront of this camera’s capabilities, you can also record videos! Capturing resolutions of 1080 × 1440 at 24 fps, recorded video is perfectly formatted off the bat for sharing to socials, and the built-in stereo mic can take care of audio for you.
Design and Viewing. Crafted for on-the-go photo and video, the X half manages to pack a ton of features into a pocket sized, half-pound camera. While you’re shooting, you have access to an optical viewfinder and a rear touchscreen LCD to view your shots in real time, and adjust settings efficiently. While this camera lacks a menu button, you can swipe through settings: swipe down from the top to access Film Camera Mode and wireless connection options, swipe right to access the main menu, or swipe up from the bottom to access a quick menu with faster setting selections! Additionally, the X half provides you with a small LED flash, a top-plate cold shoe for external accessories, an SD card slot, and a USB-C port for charging, file transfers, and audio monitoring. It’s powered through a single NP-W126S Battery.
