Building off the capabilities of its predecessor, this hybrid workhorse telephoto lens pushes image quality to the next level with thinner lens elements, and a reduction from 21 elements to 18 elements total. Replacing the standard stepping autofocus motor, the Silky Swift Voice Coil Motor (VCM) produces functionally silent autofocus with 17.5x more accuracy. Its maximum magnification increases from 2.0x to 2.5x at 200mm and 3x at 70mm, and the minimum focusing distance decreases from 19.7-inches at 70mm to just 15-inches. Overall, the versatile design of the VR S II is about 5-inches shorter and a full 26% lighter than the previous version, making it a great addition to your Nikon Z adventure.
Nikon Z System. The Nikon Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S II was designed specifically for cameras in Nikon’s full-frame Z-mount system. Z-mount lenses only work with Z-mount cameras, such as the Z7 and Z6, and Z-mount cameras are only natively compatible with Z-mount lenses.
