SP stands for “Super Performance” and is indicative of a lens from Tamron’s high performance lineup.
Di refers to Tamron’s first generation of Digitally Integrated Design lenses featuring special multi-coating techniques designed to improve flare resistance and reduce ghosting.
VC is Tamron’s take on vibration compensation found in many other lenses from first and third-party manufacturers. This refers to the vibration compensation mechanism used to counter blurred lines that can occur with handheld camera operation, tele photography, and shoots requiring long shutter speeds.
