The Canon CN20x50 50-1000mm T5.0-8.9 EF is a large format, cine-servo lens for Super35 sensors that combines ENG lens form and functions with cinema optical precision, while boasting focal lengths up to 1500mm via built-in extender. Key features include:
50-1000mm ultra-telephoto cine-servo lens, built-in 1.5x extender
Super 35mm sensor coverage up to 31.4mm diagonal
Programmable digital drive unit with zoom rocker
EOS-LENS data support through EF mount
Broadcast Standard Interface. The Canon Cine-Servo CN20x50 50-1000mm T5.0-8.9 EF features the same 12-pin camera interface for power and serial data as found on regular Canon broadcast lenses. It also has three 20-pin connectors below its servo so that you can connect a system to collect 16-bit virtual image data.
Motorized Zoom. This lens features an ENG-style hand grip with a zoom rocker. Power is provided by a 12-pin Hirose connector (we provide a D-Tap adapter). This servo-drive unit is compatible with industry-standard lens controllers for full zoom, focus, and iris control. Its 16-bit metadata output means you can integrate it into studio systems, and you can remove the servo drive entirely if you’re shooting in a cinema style.
Cinema Construction. Designed with professional production needs in top priority, the lens has dual film-industry pitch gears (0.8 & 0.5) for focus, zoom, and iris control, and an 11-blade stepless aperture. There’s also a knurled focus ring that’s limited to 180° rotation.
Base Support. This lens requires some serious support accessories that are not included with this purchase. We recommend grabbing the Wooden Camera Unified Bridgeplate – 19mm, Wooden Camera 19mm/15mm Studio Universal Lens Support, Wooden Camera 12in OConnor Dovetail w/ Clamp, Wooden 19mm Rod Pair – 24in, and DENZ Carrying Top Handle to get you started.
20x Zoom Range. The Canon 50-1000mm T5.0-8.9 EF has a 20x zoom range, which is very long for a lens designed for Super 35mm/APS-C crop-sensor cameras. You can use the built-in extender to expand the zoom range to 75 to 1500mm while still supporting 4K resolution.
