Modernized for Greater Versatility. The original Z5, though feature-rich, is considered an entry-level camera. The Z5II has graduated beyond that with a bunch of upgraded specs useful to pros and hobbyists alike. Borrowing the image processing engine of the flagship Z9 while maintaining the portability of the Z5, this camera is positioned more toward serious shooters and less for the casual online creator.

Focusing on What Matters. Nikon has massively improved AF performance for this camera, which is the first to support AF-A focus mode – a hybrid mode that will auto-switch between AF-S and AF-C in response to the subject. Achieve stunning high ISO quality that allows you to keep shooting in the most challenging environments thanks to not only the sensitive BSI-CMOS sensor but to the 5-axis Vibration Reduction stabilization system. This kind of sensor lets in more light and reduces noise for beautiful renderings of dark scenes, even handheld. This is complemented by a Warm Display Colors mode that will convert white EVF and LCD information to red, which is less glaring in low light. Creative Colors and Other Key Features. This camera is equipped with over 30 color presets, which are accessible directly with the Picture Control button. These are overlaid in the LCD so that you can experiment freely and still know what you’re getting. Comprehensive Video Capabilities. In the prior model, you were limited to cropped 4K. The faster readout speeds of this model allows for full-width 4K up to 30p, but still produces a 1.5x (APS-C) crop at 60p. Record in Nikon’s flexible N-Log format, which offers rich tonal gradation. This is also the first camera to support internal N-RAW recording. One of the more unique options with this camera (another borrowed feature from the Z9) is in-camera zooming no matter what lens you’re using.
