Powerful Twin Flash. The Olympus Macro Flash STF-8 has a twin-flash design that enables it to easily illuminate close-up subjects. It features a guide number of 27.9 feet at ISO 100 when using both flash heads and a guide number of 19.7 feet at ISO 100 when using one flash head.

Total Control. This flash offers full TTL support for Olympus cameras, and you can use it as a wireless primary flash to control up to four groups of RC-compatible off-camera flashes. In addition to full TTL auto-sync, you get a tremendous amount of macro lighting control. You can manually select the output power, from full down to 1/128. You can fully adjust the flash ratio between the left and right heads from 1:8 to 8:1, letting you control the way highlights and shadows fall across your subject.

Compatibility and Functionality. The STF-8 Flash’s head can be tilted upward from 0° to 60° and downward from 0° to 64°. You can position the flash heads at any point on the ring adapter, and you can also remove the heads and position them in different configurations to best suit your shooting setup. For example, you can use one head to light the subject and the other to light the background. The unit is powered by four AA batteries, which are not included with this rental.

Lens Compatibility. This flash covers a 12mm lens’s angle of view on Micro 4/3 cameras, or approximately 61° vertically and 72° horizontally. The STF-8 includes two ring adapters so that you can mount it directly onto the Olympus 30mm f/3.5 ED Macro, Olympus 60mm f/2.8 Macro, and Olympus 12-40mm f/2.8 ED PRO. The flash heads don’t protrude past the lens, so you still get to use the lenses’ minimum working distances.

Compatibility With Advanced Camera Features. The STF-8 Twin Flash is compatible with some OM-D and PEN camera bodies’ advanced features. For example, Focus Stacking is available when you’re using this flash with the OM-D E-M1 and OM-D E-M1 Mark II camera bodies, while Focus Bracketing is available with the OM-D E-M1, OM-D E-M1 Mark II, E-M5 Mark II, and E-M10 Mark II camera bodies.

Weatherproof Macro Flash. The STF-8 is splash-, dust- and freezeproof, a first for a macro flash. It’s rated for use in temperatures between 14° and 104° F, and weather sealed in the same manner as Olympus’s high-end cameras, so you can use it in a range of inclement conditions.
