We picked up the ARRI CCP-1 knowing full well that we would be building an ALEXA Mini gimbal-ready kit but we originally planned a package that would be equally compatible with DJI and Freefly systems. After laying out the foundation for this kit, the video geeks got to talking and we all agreed that since the ALEXA Mini is not a camera built for compromise we needed to focus on a single workhorse of a gimbal, uniquely poised to accept whatever challenge you might throw its way.

Why the Ronin 2, you might ask? Well, you aren’t the first since I pitched this package to the team and the answer is simple. I could talk about the Ronin’s ease of use and camera integrations but it really comes down to the Ronin 2’s power system. Unlike other gimbals that are prone to power management problems, the Ronin 2’s robust TB50 batteries are fully capable of powering the gimbal, camera, and accessories even when hot swapping bricks. Building a kit around the Ronin 2 meant building a kit designed to be reliable and that delivered on the expectations of our customers, making our choices for this kit, as easy as pie.
